SIC investigation ordered

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The Additional District and Session Judge, Basar has ordered the Special Investigation Cell under Vigilance Department of Arunachal Govt to investigate into the alleged misappropriation, misuse and embezzlement of Govt fund for development purpose under the Likabali constituency.

While hearing the Misc. CRL application No 01/15 in BSR/CRL Com case No 02/14 (Iken Tao Vrs Jomde Kena and others), on January 20, 2015, the Judge in its order said "this court finds it as a fit case to be sent before the Special Investigation Cell of Government.  I hereby direct the SIC to take up the investigation of the present case and complete the investigation with the time frame of three months." The court also directed that the complainant may be allowed to assess and assist the investigation for fair investigation.

The case has been listed for next hearing on March 5.

Meanwhile, Advocate Iken Tao wrote to Third Party Monitoring team, NEDFi for free and fair monitoring of fund utilization under SPS 2010 onwards and various other schemes implemented by Gensi PWD division, West Siang.

 

State govt. to construct guest house at Guwahati and Tezpur

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The government of Arunachal Pradesh has decided to construct guest houses at Guwahati and Tezpur especially to cater to the needs of medical patient. According to the sources, land has already been allotted to the state government by Assam counterpart and on their part Arunachal govt. has sanctioned funds for the same.

The Public Works Department will execute the work. The source further adds that Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi is personally monitoring the project so that it is completed on right time.  If completed on time, the two guest house will immensely benefit the Arunachalee citizen. Especially at Guwahati, lack of the availability of low-price accommodation is a trouble to those travelling for medical cases.

 

Salary of 16 teachers held up

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: Four months' salary of 16 teachers (regular and SSA) were held up on the basis of "No Work No Pay" at East Kameng.

Meanwhile, in order to check absenteeism of teachers and to get first hand information on grievances of schools, the District Education department is constantly visiting schools in all eight blocks of East Kameng District under the supervision of Sandeep kumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner Cum DPD SSA District Mission and Kata Rangmo, DDSE cum DPO, SSA District Mission East Kameng District.

 

IMWA to boycott pre-paid meter

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: In a release the Itanagar Market Welfare Association (IMWA) has informed that it has decided to boycott pre-paid meter or (Automatic Meter Reading) at Itanagar claiming that devices have been forcibly installed by the power department. IMWA added that authority should bring amendment to collect the revenue and conduct awareness on revenue generation instead of launching pre-paid system.  It also said that the power (electric) department is violating the consumers' right by installing the device against their will. The market welfare association further suggested the department to encourage LED bulb to save the power.

 

DRDA staffs demand for absorption

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The All India DRDA Staff Welfare Association, Arunachal Pradesh Unit of Lower Subansiri District in its representation to the state government requested the authority to absorb them in the department. It said that since its establishment, DRDA staffs are not getting salary regularly and there is no pension, gratuity and leave encasement provision for the staffs. It further resented the step-motherly treatment being met out to them. Claiming that despite repeated pleas and representation to the concern department for the same, the government has failed to address their issue. It also threatened to launch democratic movement if the government unable to fulfill their demands by February 15 next, said a release.  

 

50 reach AGT’s 2nd elimination round

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: Fifty out of 86 participants have made it to the second elimination round of the first ever Arunachal Got Talent (AGT) contest, scheduled to be held at Nikum Niya Hall in Nirjuli on January 25.

The talent hunt had earlier begun with 214 contenders in the 'mega round'. It has featured a series of performances including singing, dancing, and beat boxing (imitating the sounds of a drum machine with one's voice). "There is abundance of talents in Arunachal Pradesh, but the state is unable to provide the platform for them," said AGT chief advisor Gumjum Haider. Stating that the local talents of the state are of international level, he urged the state government to support such events and come up with a policy to explore young hidden talents in areas other than games and sports. The organizing team, led by Hillang Nima, is running from pillar to post in order to manage the talent show, Haider added.

 

Fire guts 3 teacher quarters at Sille

RUKSIN, Jan 22: A devastating fire broke out at teacher's colony at Sille last midnight. Two residential quarters were burnt down rendering two teacher families homeless besides partly damaging another adjacent residential quarter.

The fire which allegedly started from an attached kaccha kitchen house of a junior teacher of Govt HSS Sille completely burnt down all the properties belonging to teachers Tani Talom and Dhiraj Das. The fire tender from Pasighat arrived quite late at the spot and doused the fire. But, all valuable assets and properties were bunt before they reached at the spot. No casualty has been reported.

Meanwhile, local MLA, Tatung Jamoh along with Sille-Oyan Anchal Chairperson and police of Sille-Oyan PS visited the spot and took stock of the loss.

 

Centre to re-examine compensation estimate

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The centre has agreed that the land compensation estimate objected by the Government of India for 4-laning Banderdewa to Itanagar road will be re-examined.

This was disclosed between a meeting between the State Government and representative of MoRTH today convened under the Chairmanship of  Chief Minister in which Minister (PWD), Chief Secretary, officers from the Deputy Commissioner, Capital Complex has been directed to re-survey the land required for 4-laning Banderdewa to Itanagar road taking into account the minimum requirement for 4-lane road.

It was decided that to avoid unnecessary destruction of existing structures the road will be minimized as far as possible to meet barest requirement for 4-lane road. In areas where there are no structures the existing requirement for 4-lane roads will be followed. The Deputy Commissioner has been asked to submit the report as quickly as possible so that the decision can be taken within the financial year.

 

Gamlin family issues legal notice to Richo

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: Gamde Gamlin, the mother of Late Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin has issued a legal notice to Congress Chief of the Arunachal Pradesh unit, Padi Richo.

She accused Richo of making unfounded public statement to print media about rift between two siblings, Jarsa Gamlin and Jarter Gamlin Ronya.

In the legal notice, mother of the siblings has sought unconditional apology for defaming and insulting her and her family.

She has accused Richo of defaming the family by giving false statement with an intent to show the public that there is a tussle amongst siblings for the vacant seat due to the demise of late Jarbom Gamlin.

"This is an outright insult and defamation to me, my entire family including the departed soul of late Jarbom Gamlin,'" Mrs Gamlin said.

 

Volleyball between UTPs and public

CHANGLANG, Jan 22: As part of the forth coming Republic Day 2015 celebration, the District Administration under the initiative of Deputy Commissioner organized a friendly Volleyball match between the Under Trial Prisoners of sub-jail, Changlang and general public in the jail premises today.  

In a tough fight between the prisoners and general public team, the later managed to win the match by 2-1 sets.  

The Deputy Commissioner, Changlang Chanchal Yadav who witnessed the match termed the match as an attempt to keep the prisoners health fit and fine. She exhorted the jail authorities to keep them physically active by arranging games and sports in the premises of the sub-jail from time to time. The Sub-jail, at present, is accommodating 35 UTPs. Workshop on hand textile

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The 15 days workshop on hand textile held at Community Crafts Centre Oyan under National Centre for Design and Products Development (NCDPD) initiated by Siang Tea Industries concluded on January 20 last.

Altogether, 30 artisans from different villages of Sille-Oyan circle participated in the workshop. The programme was held under the guidance of Designer Pankaj Kumar and Programme Co-ordinator Marshall Jerang.

Attending the valedictory function M.L. Debnath and R.C. Debnath from DCH Itanagar appreciated the participants for their interest in the handicraft works and advised them to utilize their skills in developmental works.

The whole activities were done under NCDPD, New Delhi.

Meanwhile, Siang Tea Industries appealed to the Ministry of Textiles and Handicraft to encourage the rural artisans of the area by implementing various schemes under the department.

 

NCC girls conduct social service

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The NCC girls of Govt. Higher Secondary School, Seppa conducted Social Service progamme on January 18 under the supervision of CTO, Taje Cheke NCC, camp GHSS, Seppa. The cadets (JW) helped the Health Department of East Kameng district in successfully carrying out of Pulse Polio Immunization in the booths set up in Nyari Welly middle school, model village, Sardar Patel middle school, type-II colony, and Pacha middle school, type-I colony.

 

Demand for re-floating of NIT

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The 21 Koloriang (ST) Assembly Constituency Native People Forum today demanded the Superintending Engineer  RWD(Western Zone) to re-float the NIT for the works of C/O Inter village WRSB at international border area under Sarli and Parsi Parlo circles claiming that NIT was fixed. Alleging that NIT of work was published on 16th January 2015 and the last date of issue of tender paper was slated the next day (17th January 2015,) the Forum questioned the manner in which the department published the tender.  

The tender papers were issued at Laaying Yangte in Kurung Kumey district, 300 kilometers off Itanagar curtailing rights of others to participate in the bidding, it added. Earlier a group of Panchayat leaders from the area also submitted a representation to the Chief Secretary complaining about the same and demanded for cancellation of the NIT.

PPA lashes Centre on hydro projects

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The PPA today said that the Centre's development initiatives in the North East region, particularly hydro sector in Arunachal Pradesh is more 'extractive' and 'exploitative' than growth oriented.

Addressing the consultative Party meeting on Regional Party and the Indigenous Resources at Naharlagun today, PPA  secretary general Kaling Jerang said "New Delhi's unprecedented ambitious plans towards the development of North East region especially the hydropower sector in Arunachal Pradesh is increasingly more 'extractive' and 'exploitative' than growth oriented which may cause more environmental destruction and massive displacement of indigenous people. The 1,750 MW Demwe Lower hydel project near Parasuram Kund in Lohit district is a glaring example, he added.

PPA, further said that the native people being the prime stakeholders should have a major say on the issue of harnessing river water resources. "To achieve that, the defective Statehood Act has to be constitutionally amended and Arunachal be placed in Article 371 A which will finally give ownership rights over its land, forest and water resources to its indigenous people," Jerang added.

The PPA regretted that the Centre has been exhibiting an uncalled-for zest in harnessing the water resources of the North East in blatant disregard to the perilous fallouts from such large scale interventions in the geologically and environmentally fragile Eastern Himalayas.

Rather than eyeing the hydro-power potential, the Centre should shift its focus on tourism development in Arunachal Pradesh and other NE states and the traditional international border trade routes in the region should be revived," stated PPA CWC Chairman Kamen Ringu.

 

 

Forum takes exception to CBI move on Tania case

NEW DELHI, Jan 22: North East Justice Forum (NEJF) took serious exception to the Central Bureau of Investigation's recommendation in Nido Tania's case on the basis of which the trial court had dropped the charges under the ST/SC Act from the FIR thereby weakening the case further.

The 19-year-old Tania, a BA first year student in a private university in Delhi, was a victim of racial discrimination at Lajpat Nagar market in Delhi on January 29, 2014 and succumbed to death a day later.

It may be recalled here that the Delhi High Court on January 9 last had sought a response from the CBI on a plea filed by Nido in this regard.

Justice Manmohan Singh had issued notice to four adult accused Farman, Pawan, Sunder Singh and Sunny Uppal, seeking their reply on Tania's father Nido Pavitra's plea against the trial court's decision to drop charges under the SC/ST Act against the culprits.

"The reply should be filed within two weeks," the court had said before listing the matter for further hearing on April 22 next.

NEJF was formed to stand up against injustice, particularly related to racial discrimination against the people of NE in any part of the country.

The eight-member NEJF interim committee headed by former Lok Sabha member Takam Sanjoy, father Nido Pavitra and Taba Doni as chairman, vice chairman and general secretary respectively also decided to commemorate Tania's first death anniversary as martyr's day either at Janatar Mantar or Central Park or Connaught Place involving all sections of people including the NE communities living in Delhi.

 

 

ANSU declares 12 hour capital bandh

ITANAGAR, Jan 22:  The All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) today declared 12 hours Capital bandh on February 2 next, in protest against the government for allegedly failing to address their demands. The bandh starts from 5 am to 5pm and ambulance, magistrate vehicles on duty, pharmacies, hospitals, fire brigade, water supply tanker, milk van and press are exempted during the bandh hour.

Addressing the media persons, ANSU General Secretary Nyanya Gollo informed that the decision of bandh call is in reaction to the state government's failure to address its two points demand including immediate execution of four lane highway from Itanagar to Banderdewa and scrapping of pre-paid meter. ANSU GS further added that the union had served a seven days ultimatum to the Chief Secretary on January 12 last but there is no response from the state government yet.

On four-lane highway Gollo said "Four-lane highway is a must for the development of the state". He also assured that the union will extend its support and cooperation to the government and the department. Claiming that U. M Shambharkar, Superintendent Engineer and RO to (NER) MORT&H, New Delhi had submitted negative report which is anti-development, ANSU said and demanded the government to immediately withdraw the report.  It is said that Shambharkar in his report objected to very high cost of land compensation i.e Rs 241.66 Cr, now revised to Rs 242.13 Cr.

He also added no clarification/methodology is submitted on demolition of high rise structures except provision of 3% of cost on assessed properties. Total numbers of such high rise structures to be demolished has also not been given, the union said.

Gollo on pre-paid meter said that the state government should have taken the confidence of general public before implementing the same by making them aware of the pros and cons of the project.

He cited that no state and cities has implemented the system; "it is too early to implement the prepaid energy meter system in Arunachal Pradesh" he retorted.

 

 

Hydro power essential for progress: MP

PASIGHAT, Jan 22: MP (Arunachal East) has said that hydropower is essential for progress and prosperity of the state and will provide huge job opportunities to coming generations. Ninong Ering said this during a programme at Daying Ering Memorial Higher Secondary School, Pasighat today.

People are opposing upcoming hydropower projects but China has already constructed such projects over the same river, Ering said.

Meanwhile, Ering underscored the need for education and termed it as the single tool that can eliminate poverty, ignorance and illiteracy.  Teaching community should deliver their best efforts to the students so that they become worthy citizens of the nation, said the MP. The MP said that teachers should be more dedicated and devoted in their chosen profession as they are assigned to, spread awareness and understanding through interactive learning process.

Meanwhile, Ering lauded the efforts of ABK (Women Wing) for taking measures to lessen the alcoholic menace in the district. Their tireless efforts should be appreciated by the whole society, he added.

East Siang Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Srivastava who inaugurated the newly constructed six classrooms in the schools also shared various tips and strategies to improve education scenario of the school. She said "all should be punctual, hardworking and disciplined.  She advised the students to concentrate in their studies and added that the teachers must take utmost care for brighter future of the students and informed that a system of regular supervision will be designed soon to encourage and help them in their professional tasks.

Among others, Principal of the school AP Rukbo and Vice Principal A Padung also advised the students the maintain discipline and devote in their studies.

AYA apprise Air Marshal on lack of Civilian terminal

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The members of Apatani Youth Association today met visiting Air Marshal SB Deo Air Officer-in-Command, Eastern Air Command at Ziro. The team appraised him about lack of provision for Civilian terminal building in the advance landing ground being constructed at Ziro.

"We have apprised him that as per MOU signed between Govt of AP and Ministry of Defence, govt. of India during 2009 the basic objectives of construction of ALGs in AP are to cater to needs of civilian passengers and to help developmental activities in the region coupled with defence purpose. We also shared with him that in the recent meeting convened by the Chief Secretary it was decided to change master plan in order to accommodate provision of civilian terminal building after joint survey by state govt., Air force and AAI. We insisted that the joint survey be made at earliest so that aspirations of the local people are met," AYA stated in a release.

AY members also informed the visiting Air Marshal that Apatanai community cannot spare single inch of land for civilian terminal as the community has scarcity of land. Moreover the present ALG site was acquired without paying single paise. The separate civilian terminal/enclave will help to cater to the needs of civilian passengers without undue interference from defence and it will help lot to promote tourism in the area, the release added. AYA stated that it will oppose construction of ALG if provision for civilian terminal does not come up at the earliest.

On his part Air Marshal Deo assured to do whatever favourable can be done from Air Force side in the interest of the local people. He urged the local people to cooperate with govt. for early completion of the work of ALG. He added that ALG will help to tap huge tourism potential of Ziro in future. Later he inspected the construction site and expressed satisfaction with the progress of works.

 

 

Awareness program for labourers and others

ZIRO, Jan 21: A one day awareness program for labourers, contingency staff and w/c staff was conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Building and other construction workers welfare board at Abotani Hall, Hapoli yesterday to apprise about the benefits extended by the Govt. to the registered workers.

Speaking on the occasion DSP John Pada exhorted the working community to educate themselves about the benefits provided and avail all the facilities as registered workers. A registered worker under the workers welfare board can avail housing loan, medical assistance, tool loans, marriage assistance, old age pension, education loans, death gratuity etc, informed Pada and requested the workers to register themselves. Also addressing the representatives from various welfare boards, he said that the welfare boards have a far more responsibility beyond registration mobilization. The union has to fight for the rights of the working force and see to that all the workers have equal access to the benefits.

Registering Officer APB&OCWWB, Lower Subansiri district Punyo Tana dealt in detail regarding the benefits one can avail as a registered worker.

President AAPWU and ACP Nitti Tapi Kuru also spoke on the occasion.

Training on Quality Primary Health Care services held

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: A two day Professional Skills Development Training' for its Primary Health Centre (PHC) staff was conducted by Karuna Trust at the conference Hall in RK Mission Hospital Itanagar under the sponsorship of Mac Arthur Foundation, USA from January 20 to 21 last.

Altogether 60 medical and paramedical staff from different PHCs including doctors participated in the programme which aimed at imparting skills development training on the Comprehensive Quality Primary Health Care services as well as on the recent update on different health programs including National Health Mission (NRHM).

Dr Deepashree, Programme Director, Karuna Trust Bangalore was the key resource person for the quality health services and standard operation procedures were discussed for the measurement of the health services.

Interactive sessions followed by group discussions on different primary health services for the improvement of quality was thoroughly discussed by her.

Dr Bengia Chirchi, Gynecologist from RKM imparted a detail technical session on maternal health care service particularly the quality ANC services while Dr M.K.Doley, pediatrician, took an important session on newborn and child care.

Dr Lobsang Tsetim, eye specialist from RK Mission Hospital Itanagar took a session on primary eye care services for the children.

Evaluation of health indicators in all eleven PHCs by analyzing the critical health indicators, Anup Sarmah, Coordinator Karuna Trust took the technical session including the innovative methods for the improvement of primary health services.

Karuna Trust has been serving to more than 6% of rural population of Arunachal Pradesh by management of eleven PHCs under Public Private Partnership (PPP) programme NRHM, Dept of Health & family Welfare, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh for the last ten years in different districts of the state.

 

 

Programme for frontline government functionaries

YACHULI, Jan 22: A two day central sponsored sensitization - cum - orientation programme for capacity building of the frontline government functionaries, PRI Members, SHGs, NGOs, Mahila Mandals, and Youths through Intensive Training Programme (ITP) was conducted at Yachuli today.

The training was conducted by Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Naharlagun in collaboration with the district administration.

ADC Yachuli, A.C Boruah in his inaugural speech said that the ITP Project is one of the important Training Projects of ATI, Naharlagun which seeks to refurbish, reorient and upgrade domain knowledge of all the important stakeholders. The training seeks not just to sensitize the concerned regarding institutionalization mechanisms but also for better and sustained programme delivery, he added and exhorted the participants learn and extend full cooperation to the programme.

Tamar Baki, Veteran Master Trainer cum District Coordinator, ITP, Project, dealt in detail about the objective of the ITP programme. He dealt about issues and imperatives of good governance, importance of ethical norms in good governance, managerial skills in leadership, motivation and team building at workplace and procedure of developmental schemes in the identified core sectors under ITP and development of the capacity building by ensuring better delivery of public services in rural areas.

Dy Director (RTD)-cum-SNO, ITP, ATI, Naharlagun, T Lodo briefed about the ITP programme and highlighted the main content, aims and objectives of the training programme.

Toko Bath, Anchal Samiti Chairperson, Yachuli Block also spoke on the occasion. The Block Officer and the officials, PRIs, SHG, NGOs, Youth and Block President Arunachal Pradesh Women welfare society Joram Yajum with her team, HGBs & GB also participated in this programme. (DIPRO)

Era of bandh culture should end

Just when everyone thought that bandh culture is going to end in Arunachal, the two proposed capital bandh on 29th of this month and on 2nd February by All Arunachal Pradesh Border Students Union and All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) respectively has come as shocker. While their demands may be genuine, but the question remains, is bandh call the only means to fight for justice?

Just few days ago bunch of young APPSCCE aspirants inspired the people of state with their peaceful way of fighting against corruption. One among them Ujum Perying, staged a hunger strike demanding resignation of commission chairman and a member, along with fresh conduct of the mains exam.  The state government yielded to most of their demands. Most significantly without throwing a single stone, the aspirants won the battle. The various association and unions should learn a lesson from way APPSCCE aspirants peacefully fought for justice. Everybody is aware that bandh call hampers the life of underprivileged people. Especially poor vegetable vendors are the worst sufferer. Also bandh call is considered to be an out-dated method of fighting for justice.

Regularise the trekker fare

Dear Editor,

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the authorities regarding Trekker Fare. We all know that Petrol and Diesel prices have been decreasing since the last few months. But the Trekker Fare has not been decreased.  When the Diesel and Petrol price are high, we agree that trekker fare will be high but with decrease of  fuel prices, fare should be in accordance to it.   Common public and the students should not be made to suffer.  It is seen that students who have to go colleges and schools are the ones that suffer the most as they do not have source of income.   

Therefore, I request the administration to kindly look into the matter and come up with a reasonable vehicle fare for the public and students.

It’s cold here

Everyone knows that Rajasthan & Coastal India is hot areas whereas the Simla in Himachal Pradesh, Ooty in Tamil Nadu, Jammu & Kashmir, Tawang-Bomdila, Ziro & Mechukha in Arunachal Pradesh are very cold places.

The TK Engineering Consortium Private Limited is executing Construction Projects in Mechukha & Ziro but didn’t provide winter packages to their staffs and engineers.  There is no provision for Room Heater, Jacket, and Warm Blankets. We are confused whether the Head Office forgot to send it to us.

Therefore, we appeal to HR Head Office & Project Manager to kindly arrange the necessary items while the winter season is on.

Act against unwanted visitors

Dear Editor,

Time to time some unknown persons introducing themselves as employees of  some company intrude into the house and directly start demanding gas card. Then they demand to inspect the gas cylinders citing safety measures. If we hesitate or inquire about their identity, they get irritated. Once they inspect, then they replace all the accessories and charge cost for those items. Once I enquired at the Marina Gas Agency if they depute any agent for house to house gas cylinder inspection.  They told that no persons are deputed from their agency for such activities.

Now the scope left is; it is for concerned department most probably Consumer Affairs/ Civil Supplies Department to bring out a clarification whether if any persons are authorised to visit door to door to inspect the household gas cylinders from their Department. If so, they should be provided with proper I-card. But if it is not so, then intentions of these visitors in odd hours are very doubtful.

Another and more serious menace is so called Sadhus doubtfully roaming and visiting households at odd hours when the heads of household have left for respective work places. Normally, we the common people have to attend our jobs regularly, more regularly after installation of bio-metric attendance system.

Whether these Sadhus are real or fraudsters? Just watch in TVs and see newspapers. Lot of crimes are committed by so called Sadhus. As such, most of so-called Sadhus are fraudsters only, from infamous Jayendra Saraswati to Narayan Sai.

If these Sadhus are real, then what is the need of roaming in such doubtful manner? They should stay in the shrine or temple. Needy people will come to their temple/ shrines for blessings.

We have other religions like Christians and Buddhism in our state. They don’t roam around for donation the way these Sadhus do. Then why these Sadhus roam around visiting households though unwelcomed? They would stand in the threshold for long hours even on being asked to leave. These Sadhus also should start toiling for their living.

Besides this many people might have experienced this most provocative act. They would display their genitals with their amputed organ to show that they are real Brahmacharis. Is it not amounting to gross obscenity?

When I have not asked them to ampute their organ, then why should they show it to me?

But that apart, how come so many so-called Sadhus entered here? Who has issued so many ILPs?

Stringent instructions should be issued from the District Administrations to prohibit such doubtful roaming and unwanted visit to households either by any selling agents, hawkers or sadhus in order to avoid any untoward incidents to happen. PCR van should be asked to make round in sectors during the day time also. Otherwise, if these unknown persons flee after committing crime, they can never be caught. Then who will be responsible?

Kradaadi and not Kra Daadi

The word ‘Kra Daadi’ appears in your esteemed daily publication which needs correction. It should correctly appear as ‘Kradaadi/Kradaad’. It’s a single word and has no prefix or suffix.  

According to folk tales, ‘Kradaadi or Kradaad’ is an icy and the oldest mountain. Please make the necessary corrections.

Road is central to development

Dear Editor,

With profound regard, I would like to highlight the general public’s grievances with regard to dilapidated condition of Quibang to Mangung PMGSY road and drainage.

This road connects Random, Hayum, Hamatong, Petong – I, Petong –II, Khetong, Siet, Mangung, Thalla and Yallang. It is the lifeline to the valley. Hence, maintenance is needed to connect the people with the rest of the areas for basic needs and wants. But unfortunately, despite repeated request from youths, PRI Members, Public leaders and general public to renovate the road, it is yet to be done so. After losing hope, the youths as well as PRI Members took a concrete decision to pool in from MNREGA Scheme as well as seek Rs. 500 each from motor vehicle owners of the valley to renovate the road.

We requested authority concern to help out, but unfortunately department has just maintained formalities by providing an excavator for few hours from Hutong site.

Moreover, there is a number of nallahs which has no culvert and some of it has been washed away during the last monsoon.

In this connection, I would like to make a sincere request to the competent authority to kindly consider the case; because road communication is the central to over all development.
